Steve was born in Oldbury in the West Midlands and was heavily influenced by the gritty surroundings in which he was raised. The Black Country is famed for the hardiness of the people, the dirty industry and hard rock. This has resulted in his style of music being rootsy, rhythmic, edgy, tough and with a no-nonsense attitude and character vocals reminiscent of a Black Country Shane Mcgowan but with their own distinctive flavour. This has been best put in to practice with his band Bleeding Hearts - a full on Celtic Post-Punk Folk Rock outfit. Steve's solo music draws on a greater dimension though to show a different side to his personality - a willingness to experiment with old and new technology, valve studios, kicking guitars, brass, samples, drum and bass loops in a creative and ambitious way to merge the roots music of acoustic instruments with modern sounds. Steve is at heart a musical anarchist, his lyrics reflect the struggle of life over oppression, the alternative political agenda and the heartache of love found and love lost, personal relationships, expectations and disappointments along with the optimism of new found causes and ambition. Life can be a struggle, but it is also precious and there to be lived to the full. Enjoy it.
